He sets himself up, they knock him down. Now I understand why ten pin bowling is so popular in America ?

This is wonderful - cheered me up today!

This came through as a FaceBook post - not my parents, but a very timely warning. Please warn any relatives or friends who might be targeted about this.

"Mum and dad just had a phonecall about what they should do during the virus. They where told you must stay in and we are going to send you 2 masks 2 hand gels and gloves. Can you give us your address which she did then he said that's £29 can i have your bank details.

At this point she put the phone down . Please keep telling the elderly about these scammers

Other people have had the same phonecall, number call received from is 02080402745"

Thanks for passing that on.
Some people are just too despicable for words. Am I bad to wish the virus on them
Thank God for people like Captain Tom to bring back your faith in people

Only problem with wishing the virus on them is that they would pass it on to others who had to look after them.

You just know they are the ones going out and about as well.
My father has been ailing for a while, keeps falling etc he is 86. Well I got the phone call this morning from my mother " can you come round I don't think your dad is breathing" persuaded her an ambulance was the best bet. He was dead, so I now have to try an arrange a funeral in Coronavirus times, which is going to be interesting to say the least

Aw, I'm so sorry, bym. And Hen Gen is right. It doesn't matter how old, frail or ill someone is, and it doesn't make a difference how long they've been ill. We're never really prepared.

BYM - I am so sorry. We have never met, but I wanted to send you and Mrs BYM my sincere sympathies. Its just awful when we lose a parent, a terrible time, its bad enough under normal circumstances, but my heart goes out to you and your family, coping at a time like this. And your poor mother, does she have anybody with her I wonder. I can't help directly, but we can listen, on here, if you want.

Oh dear, so sorry to hear this BYM. Totally agree with what Mrs B. has said above. It’s always a surprise, even if you know it is on the cards. Take care of yourselves,

So sorry to hear that BYM, my thoughts are with you both. At least your mum was with him.

I'm so sorry to hear your news BYM. You & your mum will be in my prayers. I'm glad that they were at least together & that he didn't have to die alone, but I know it's still going to be hard for you both.

For a month before Father's Day you might want to avoid all shops. Seeing cards etc can be pretty painful for a year or two...

Thankyou so much for your kind thoughts everyone.
Icemaiden I am a man I avoid shops anyway :D :D :D. But I know what you mean, luckily he had just celebrated a birthday and their wedding anniversary. So mum hasn't anything like that coming up. She got a bit worried about flowers and there would be nothing on the coffin. Luckily a works colleagues wife is a florist and she works from home. So that cheered her up. She is sitting quite happily at the moment totally absorbed in our hens going around the garden. Izzie even took a few blueberries from her hand on her trip to the kitchen to survey what the humans what up to

Going through things for mum, OH noticed they were paying an exorbitant amount for their house/contents insurance and we managed to find her a new one a good deal cheaper.
Went to cancel the renewal for the old company, explained I was phoning as my father had died and my mother didn't wish to renew with the company to be told we need to speak to Mr Grant as he is the policy holder, and mums wishes might not concur with his. Wonder which bit of deceased they don't quite get. You do wonder at times
