Cheery Pics

Oh dear poor cat, I hope she is ok and doesn't get too hot and uncomfortable, and you don't get too hot being nursemaid

Her injury sounds similar to one a cat of my mother's had years ago. Mum had seen her do it, so knew exactly how it happened. The cat tried to get down from the garage roof, but rather than her usual, sensible route, "walking" down the wall as far as she could and then dropping onto the boundary wall between mum and her neighbour, the cat somehow got distracted, and just dropped onto the ground.
The injury took a while to heal, and every now and then, she'd limp for a day of two, but otherwise she made a full recovery.

Some more pics of Gotheborg. Ships wheel still in use, not decorative like on some other ships. Below deck was kitted out as she would have been with tables between the cannons and the crew which numbers 60 on big voyages still sleep in hammocks slung across the deck. Only a cabin for the captain. Sadly the rum barrel was empty.

As she is on a world tour, the crew were busy putting linseed on the blocks and tarring ropes, and general ships maintenance so it was quite an experience going round with the smells mingling with lunch being cooked.

The tour took about an hour. Nice artefacts stored on board from the original Gotheborg's trading travels

My Dad was in the RN so did 'Crossing the line' many times. I've got one of his certificates somewhere. It could be in his photo album. I'll look tomorrow.

Grandad was in RN before and during WWI and Merchant Navy WWII, ran away to sea at 14. He had the tattoos to show he had been round the Cape, across the Atlantic, around the World plus a Swallow, because they always return, and Faith, Hope and Charity symbols. Did your dad have those

No, no tattoos. My mum would have played merry hell if he'd come home with even one!

I assume grandad had some done before he met my gran. I always thought the swallow was quite pretty, and the ship in full sail, and they told a story of his travels
I do hate the trend nowadays for people to be covered in them.

Sorry this isn't very cheery but Pickle died in my arms at 1.30 this morning. It was some sort of seizure or fit and highly unlikely to be related to the ligament injury which was apparently healing well. Because she was OK wearing a light harness I was able to take her out of the crate for extended periods, lying on my bed and/or being cuddled while I read. She was nine and a half and had been with me for three and a half years. At least I have the other cats to console me.
