We did wonder if someone had bought a drake and some ducks when ducklings and one of the girls turned into a drake, and they didn't want two drakes.
Guess we will never know, but he has a loving forever home with lots of new friends, never really thought about Muscovy Ducks, but he is certainly friendly and placid
 
Yes- either rehoming or culling are responsible ways of dealing with surplus drakes or cockerels, but leaving an animal in a box by the side of a road is just despicable.
 
i agree Marigold. He could have sat there for ever and starved to death. I’d have thought that there would be people out there who’d love a lavender drake. Theyre not that common.
 
Or at the very least they could have popped him onto a lake somewhere.
He has very successfully beaten up 6 Canada geese today, including grabbing one and dragging it over the side into the lake, quick shake of the tail and back to eating supper, no one is going to muscle in on his food.
