Hi everyone,

I'm having a tidy up of blog.poultrykeeper.com and there are some spaces for more bloggers.

You can write about anything poultry related and there's no harm in throwing in a few other posts non-poultry related too if you like.

You can see some examples here:

Beths Blog

Tims blog (that's me!)

If you are interested, I will need you to send me a small 'about me' text to go on the blog and I will set up a blog page for you, username and password.

I hope to find a few people who will be interested in this sort of thing :)

Tim

Tim, how much of a commitment would it be?!
What I mean is, how often / how much blogging do you (poultry keeper) require? ish!

:?: :)

There's no 'real' commitment - if you haven't posted for a year, I'd probably ask if you'd mind me archiving your posts and letting someone else have a go. Some blogs have regular posts - 1 or 2 paragraphs every few days or so, others one a month, it's all down to your individual style and time. Some blogs are more photos than text...and so on.

If you have regular readers that post comments from time to time, it can encourage you for sure.

It's hard to write about poultry all of the time - but I'd be happy if the 75% was poultry / poultry related

There are about 150 visitors a day at the moment to the blog site as a whole.

Hi Tim,

I might be interested if you consider my input would be interesting to read. I'm fairly new to chook keeping (2 years) & I would be writing more along the lines of a small, garden hobbyist - learning everyday, rather than full of experience & info! Probably a humorous blog rather than all serious stuff, I'm willing to give it a go, have been thinking of blogging for a while!!! Any good?

Hi Lucylou,

Yes, that's great - all different aspects are welcome whether just starting out or an experienced breeder.

That's 3 people now - Blue, Foxy and yourself.

Now I've just got to get the pages set up and the log in and I will email you all the details.

Thanks!

Tim

Would you mind a Yankee? We've had chickens for about 25 years, and are new to Heritage (American) turkeys.

"No Maam I wouldn't mind at all" (said in my best American accent)

Do you want me to set up an account for you?

Tim

That would be lovely (said in my best British accent)

Just let me know what else I need to do.

If you need anyone else I would be happy to do a blog as a new to chickens, about experiences etc and tips to help! Already saw a chap turn up at the ex battery hens collection point with a very small pampers box asking for 4 hens!!! So wanted to give him advice! If you are full that's no prob!

No, by all means, the more the merrier!

Give me a week to set it up as I'm snowed under at the moment with photos and show reports and whilst the website can wait, magazines do not.

I will be in touch soon!

T ;)

hi, i would be interested in doing this, i am an experienced breeder and also fancier. i go to all of the shows in my area, and i think my intrests could help and encourage other people

Hi Dan,

I've set up a page for you tonight.

You should receive a username and password from the blog software (you can change the password when you log in).

Your blog page is http://blog.poultrykeeper.com/category/true-bantam-blog/

I have left some instructions to get you started in a test post.

I will need to add the 'about me' page as I don't think you'll have permission to do that - when you're ready of course, no hurry ;)

Thanks for your support, let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

Tim

Hi tim, i have not recieved my log in details, should i be expecting them in a few days (with christmas and everything)
Dan

Ah, no, it should have sent them to you automatically.

Can you check your spam bin etc..?

It would be better for you to tell your email software that it's not spam so other emails from the blog don't get 'trapped' too.

If you can't find it. I can email it to you by hand but I'm hoping you can 'whitelist' the blog so that future emails don't get trapped.

No worries Dan. I'm glad you've got it.

If you can 'whitelist' the email address, (add to your contacts or select 'not spam') it should ensure you get future emails from the blog.

Good luck and thanks again for your enthusiasm! :D

I've had a bit of a tidy up on the blog today. I have archived a couple of old blogs that haven't been updated for a year or so and tidied up the layout.

There are some new bits in the footer like latest comments, latest posts and so on but I have also removed the Bloggers Log In on the right - this was getting constantly hit by spammers so by removing it, the problem goes away.

To log in now, you can go straight to the log in page (perhaps you can bookmark this page) : blog.poultrykeeper.com/wp-login.php

I haven't put the http:// in front of it because I don't want to provide a link for the spambots to crawl down from this post ;)

You should also see a handy menu bar when you are logged in and viewing the 'front end' which allows you to get to back end quickly.

Thanks for your support bloggers!

If there is anyone else who fancies blogging, just let me know in this post and I'll set it up for you, there's still a little room left :D
