swollen & hard foot pad

Hi , he had (or still has ) a Staphylococcus infection - which is the main cause of bumblefoot- but can also cause breathing problems/shortage of breath and death if not treated :( His breathing is better but not 100% - my vet is very good- she knows i know more than her about geese/poultry so i normally just ring her up - we discuss what it is- she offers me A, B or C and i decide which i would like to try :D She wanted to give me Tylan soluble but it's hard to put it in the goose's water  plus, i find tylan is given by all vets no matter what the symptons as soon as you mention poultry  So he was given Angemycin injections- i just injected him daily in the breast muscle- he was a sweetie towards the end - knew what was coming and just sat down :o He is also very, very, heavy- too heavy i think- need to put him on a diet.
regards, David :)

Ahhhhh, I think you have just demonstrated a much softer side to my perception of you David....

He sounds like he needs and is clearly getting lots of TLC and that you have quite literally got your hands full. :D

Hi Sharron, one of my birds recently had bumble foot. After treating with TETRAVET with no sucsess i removed the marble size lump from his foot. I then disinfected the open wound and tape it up to keep it clean. Have him on antibotics and all is well. This however is not a task for a beginner, just thought i would let you know what your vet may have to do if it does not clear up on medication. Best of luck..
