Hi, welcome to the forum :-)99
Sorry to hear your chicken is poorly. To be honest i dont know a lot about diseases, but it sounds a bit like coccidiosis. Does she have diarrhea? If she has bloody droppings, then it is very ikely to be cecal coccidiosis.

Can't understand why you wouldn't worm them! Surely it doesn't matter how many you have or whether they are free range or not. Dogs are wormed regularly, no matter how many you have or where they walk etc. Sounds like your hen needs to visit a vet as she won't live long if she's not drinking.

i would say worm them as quick as you can it doesnt matter on how the animal is kept they all need worming wether its a horse , dog or whatever . we had a horse down our yard full very ill very fast after giving birth vet tests { £500 } could not give an answer and i know the owners pumped anything and everything into her she went down to a skeleton and stayed like it for over 4 months but with numerous amounts of worming finally tons of red worms fell out of her and she is slowly putting on weight now all horses are on a strict worming progamme even though shes the only horse to have them { 17 horses on the yard } so its best to get your birds wormed a.s.a.p . if she doesnt pick up within a few days to a week of worming then i would say get her to a vet but no doubt the vet will ask wether shes been wormed or not .

Worms lay eggs in grass,so free range birds are often more in need of worming.I would suggest you do take her to see a vet a.s.a.p. and also worm all your hens at least 6 monthly,as suggested in the other member's responses.

As symptoms are non specific/indicate a generally ill hen but not the cause + others not laying----- any sign of respiratory infection ? It is also important to exclude / treat for red mite and other creepy crawlies .Ros

You need to get some water into her. A teaspoon every few hours poured into open beak,or better still syringe (no needle!) then VET ASAP. Worming is essential when free ranging -Flubenvet every 6 months with Vermex 3 months in between is our system. Last time we wormed ours on Flubenvet premix feed the egg weights increased 10%, which shows how much nutrient the worms were taking. Problem is when you worm them the dead worms give out toxins and in badly wormed cases there is sufficient toxin to kill the bird.
