Osprey return

Have a lovely time in Exmoor, will keep fingers crossed the car behaves itself.
Whilst in Wales several people fell off Snowdon whilst we were in the vicinity, we bought a book of slate quarry walks did quite a few, very interesting in spite of several idiots shooting at the slate heaps in one and a nude photo shoot in another which attracted the attention of some mountain goats with hilarious results. just an average week in Wales
Wonder what will happen in Sunderland when we go

Only idiots fall off Snowdon in good weather - usually people in slingback sandals and miniskirts who try a short cut instead of sticking to the very well-marked paths.
It sounds as if the mountain goats must have added greatly to the interest of the video. Did you get any footage?

Amazing what people think of as suitable clothing for going up a mountain. As we came down a track, we passed people in not very many clothes who sniggered at our trousers, coats, yes it's hot at the bottom and damn cold at the top.
Sadly no video footage of "Tangerine Tina", when we first saw these people on the wrong side of the footpath fencing and half way down a slope we initially thought they were idiots deciding to have a swim in what was probably a freezing lake. Then off came her robe and she was posing amongst the slate, then came the goats who being goats had to pick up and chew discarded clothing and generally clatter about the slate spoil in a very nimble fashion unlike the portly elderly photographers.

You only told me about the stretcher case and the shooting; the goats sound much more fun but the model and photographer obviously needed the Mrs G "look". Have a peek at this https://twitter.com/GlaslynWildlife

Hope the car behaves Marigold. I think I've got problems with the old Lexus' brakes now so getting it checked out on Thursday. At least the tyre problem seems sorted, probably caused by not having used the car over the winter. What will Poppy make of the ponies?

Yes, especially this one!

it was a bit long winded to put in a text Margaid. I should have started a new thread entitled "Tangerine Tina". The Mrs G look would have been perfect for glowering at them. Think they also needed Aran taking a dive at them to.
Hope the brakes get sorted and glad the tyres were ok.
Hopefully the only nudes at the tall ships race will be ships figureheads

Another pair of Ospreys are now breeding in North Wales at Llyn Brenig. Water board staff are expecting eggs to hatch in the next few days. The female is Rutland born Blue 24 who has been seen hanging around both the Dyfi and Glaslyn area and the male is HR7 a Scottish born bird

Monty (at Dyfi Project) has been attacked by a barn owl two nights running, while sleeping on the perch next to the nest! DOP don't seem to be too alarmed by it but surely it would be disastrous if he were injured?

I guess they aren't too worried as it has happened in previous years with no unfortunate consequences. But it would be serious if he did sustain an injury. The Barn Owl will be in for a shock if Monty turns on him

First egg hatched at Glaslyn at 9.49 am this morning, and we watched it happen for once

Third chick just hatched at Glaslyn and I watched it live!!!! :-)08 :-)08 :-)08 :-)08

Mrs G moved the empty shell out of the way and is now snuggled down on all three chicks but giving the new hatchling space to dry off.

Mrs G moved again and it looks as though the chick is sitting in the smaller piece of eggshell. Hope it isn't stuck to the shell.

It's clear of the shell and is between its' siblings who are now being fed by Mrs G, Aran having brought a fish to the nest.

Without going through 12 pages, could anyone tell me where to find the link to see the Osprey's please? I sawSpring Watch last night and it showed some on there, too. Fabulous birds.

the other two nest sites I watch are http://www.dyfiospreyproject.com/ and http://www.ospreys.org.uk/webcam/

There are others around the country. Be warned - it can be addictive!

The Rutland ospreys returned very early and the chicks hatched at the beginning of May. The Glaslyn chicks are only a few days old and none of the chicks have hatched at Dyfi yet - but any day now!

Well done on seeing live Margaid, we managed to see the 2nd chick hatch live.
It's very addictive Tweetypie, you have been warned, you can also look up Rutland Ospreys, Kielder Ospreys, Loch Garten they all have live webcams.
Nice to see the Glaslyn Ospreys briefly on "Iolo's Snowdonia" on BBC 4 last night, super series

First time BYM.
There was an intruder at lunchtime today and Aran was off the nest seeing them off. Couldn't see what it was but apparently was another osprey, not a corvid after the chicks. Poor Mrs G is now huddled low over the chicks keeping them dry.
