It seems there is now a new wormer for chickens Panacur AquaSol. It is administered in the water, which makes it far simpler to use than Flubenvet. It appears to have zero egg withdrawal from my understanding. I don't know the price.

According to what I have read it was previously only licensed for pigs Chickenfan. It is a fine powder suspension that doesn't need frequent agitation in the water it is claimed. How that affects the chicken's willingness to drink I don't know? But it should be great for free ranging birds that don't like confinement and a diet of only Flubenvet treated pellets. The active ingredient is something called Fenbendazole, as opposed to Flubenvet which uses Flubendazole. That means nothing to me -I just need something that works and I'm not sure it treats everything that Flubenvet does. I haven't noticed it for sale anywhere yet either.

Apparently the field studies showed no drop in water intake Chris, they say that the study involved over 59000 breeders which if true is amazing. Given that the product for pigs has been licensed since 2011 it is strange that a search shows up nothing for sale. So far I have only seen that it treats roundworm and caecal worm, no mention of it being effective against gapeworm hair worm or gizzard worm.

It's also used in paste, granule or oral suspension for cats and dogs. In cats and dogs it treats roundworm, tapeworm and lungworm and something called Giardia, but not Dipylidium caninum the 'flea tapeworm'.

This infomation was obtained from http://www.ema.europa.eu
There are various Panacur AquaSol medicants available on Amazon, for cats, dogs & rabbits but no mention of chickens.

Panacur AquaSol is a medicine that contains the active substance fenbendazole. It is available as an oral suspension (200 mg/ml) for use in drinking water for pigs and chickens.

Panacur AquaSol is used for the treatment and control of three types of roundworm infections in the gut of pigs:

Ascaris suum (adult and intestinal and migrating larval stages);
Oesophagostomum worms (adult stages);
Trichuris suis (adult stages).

Panacur AquaSol is also used for the treatment of two types of roundworm infections in the gut of chickens:

Ascaridia galli (L5 and adult stages);
Heterakis gallinarum (L5 and adult stages).

For pigs, Panacur AquaSol is added to their drinking water in a quantity that aims to supply each pig 2.5 mg fenbendazole per kg bodyweight daily; this is done for two consecutive days for treatment and control of Ascaris suum and Oesophagostomum infections, and for three consecutive days to treat and control Trichuris suis. The amount added is based on the combined weight of all the pigs to be treated, with 2.5 mg added for each kg bodyweight on each treatment day (two or three consecutive days respectively).

For chickens, Panacur AquaSol is added to their drinking water in a quantity that aims to supply each chicken 1 mg fenbendazole per kg bodyweight daily; this is done for five consecutive days.

Before allowing the animals to access the medicated water the water delivery system should be drained and flushed with the medicated water.

There are currently no known side effects associated with Panacur AquaSol. Repeated use of Panacur AquaSol or a similar anthelmintic may result in resistance. The medicine should not be allowed to enter surface waters as it has harmful effects on aquatic organisms.

Thanks for that research, Alphaeng, and a big welcome to the Forum. What you have posted is very interesting.
I think I'll just stick to Flubenvet, all the same.
