We have a very vocal lady get on our bus, she is very loud and always moaning. This morning she is on the phone haranguing the doctors, conversation which we could hear went something like this
" I bought a water sample in yesterday, and I want to know NOW if it is an infection or cystitis so I know if I need antibiotics or not" short silence as the receptionist is probably looking up her notes.
" what do you mean you can't see anything in my notes, I brought it in yesterday and I want the results now, well if you think they may not be back or entered up by the doctor yet, I suggest you start looking for them"
The bus is now totally silent.Then she says
" Yes I do suggest you look for them, and while you are doing it, you may be dealing with a bladder infection which is highly personal so don't you go discussing it with the other receptionists or anybody else for that matter"
That's ok love we all know now, so she doesn't have to tell anybody else.
Shame no one was at the doctors to see the receptionists face whilst this was going on

Wouldn't you love a sort of "mexican wave" type thing to go through the bus, with everyone (except the one on the phone!) sticking their fingers in their ears, and going "Lalalala!We're NOT LISTENING!" :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

Next time she gets on the bus, ask her if she managed to get antibiotics for her infection "downstairs" :lol: :lol:
 
If she had an infection with bacteria that grew fast enough for the lab to have results that quickly, I sure as heck wouldn't want to be on a bus with her!!!
 
I don't think any bacteria would want to infect her either, it would be the kamikaze type She is the passenger from hell.

Or! A nice big notice on the bus saying "All phone conversations taking place on this bus are monitored and recorded, for security purposes. please do not discuss anything you would not wish made public." That'd fix 'em! :mrgreen:
 
That has to be the most entertaining bus anywhere. Can I buy a season ticket?

We have a bus here that takes two hours to get to Lerwick picking up en route. I have to travel on it because I’m not allowed to drive until Jan 4th. It picks up every kind of eccentric known to mankind ( including me, I guess ).
 
You can buy a monthly ticket Hen-Gen or a daily ticket or a weekly, and you can sample the delights of Tilbury, Lakeside, Brentwood, Ongar, Bluewater shopping centre in Kent. You could even get off a bus in Tilbury and get on the ferry to Gravesend.
I am always amazed at what people talk about on their phones, its as though they think they are in some personal bubble and no one else can hear a word of what they are saying.
Has anyone ever noticed that Chinese people always sound angry when on the phone, it must be the way they pronounce words in mandarin
We also have a collection of strange people that are bus obsessed and travel round on them all day and try to engage you in conversation, not much different to your buses really Hen-Gen.
Got a couple of days off, and at last today had the Battle of Britain Memorial flight go over house, OH was quite smug that she has witnessed this before, closely followed by Red Arrows, Bristol Blenheim and B 17 Flying Fortress (Sally B). God Bless the Eastbourne Air Show, and I will be there tomorrow.

Ah, the wonders of modern technology. Well nearly. The bus drives onto a rickety old ferry which takes us and the bus across. Some get off during the 20 minute crossing to have a cup of coffee but I usually have a snooze.
 
At the risk of lowering the tone again... :-)02 I didn't know you could get a bus from Bluewater to Lakeside, carry on to Tilbury & then catch a ferry back to Kent? If it wasn't for the fact that I loathe going shopping, that could be a great day out! :lol:

Especially if you were on BYM's bus!
You'd need to be careful what you said, though, or you'd find it recounted on here.
 
But I could direct you to sit next to someone who could provide you with entertainment, at certain times that could be me!
The X80 goes hourly from Lakeside to Bluewater, not sure which bus company runs Bluewater to Gravesend. Then get the ferry, we do run the replacement bus service if there is a problem with the ferry, just sit upstairs so you don't get wet feet!
You can also get to Purfleet on our buses and take in Rainham Marshes nature reserve on your day out
 
Yeh I went to Gravesend once. It was shut! :D
Rainham Marshes sounds good though. I do miss the diversity you have down there. Especially the insects. Mention black darters, migrant hawkers or downy emeralds here they look at you as though they need to call the men in white coats.

Loved those programmes that we have just had here on The New Forest. Used to go there as a child but was too young/stupid to appreciate it.
 
Not to mention Banded Demoiselles, and Red Eyed darter, we also get Scarce Emerald to around here. Took us ages to spot a Black Darter as they seem to move even quicker than normal. We saw our first on Roydon Common in Norfolk, and quite a few on Thursley Common in Surrey a couple of weeks ago.
I suppose you are a bit short on insect life on Shetland, bet you still get the biting ones though.
Gravesend isn't too bad has a good scale model shop!. Lovely statue to Princess Pocahontas in the churchyard where she is buried, and the local boat that does trips up the Thames is named after her. General Gordon was also stationed at the garrison
