Introducing a new goose to another (a gander)

Hi!
I am new here and am very excited to find something like this.
I have a quick question.
We have many creatures on the farm including a pair of geese. While on a trip, we lost our goose and our gander lost his voice. The gate to our yard was left open one day (we found out) and a coyote got her as well as some ducks and chickens.
Our geese were hatched 2 springs ago and were very attached. Last spring I put 4 ducklings under the goose as she wanted to be a mommy and these ducks still parade around with mom and dad.
We decided to try and find a goose that was the same age and type and succeeded. I found how to introduce a new goose to a flock, but what about to just one other...the gander?
Also, on a side note....does anyone know about a gander losing his voice and if he'll get it back?

Thanks!

Hi Jaimi,
I don't actuially keep geese, but,if you're introducing a goose to a gander,I wouldn't expect any problems. He'll probably be very pleased to see her.
As to his voice, when did he lose it? If it was when the Coyote visited, maybe it dragged him by his neck, damaging his vocal cords.I would take him to be checked by a vet, but,if he lost his voice a while ago,and it hasn't come back yet I wouldn't expect it to now.

When you introduce them, it usually works the opposite to chickens - it seems to be better if they are confined in a small area / yard - there's a bit of info in this article:

Introducing a new Goose

As Lydia says, introducing a gander shouldn't be a problem - it's when you have an established flock and want to introduce another goose it seems to be more difficult...

Oh and Welcome to the forum too!
