Just don't mistakenly put on that video of her playing three trumpets at once.

Boy, they are brilliant, aren't they?! I love jazz. Was listening to Ella & Friends Christmas album last night. One of my favourites.

Did you know Hitler had a pathological hatred of jazz, but Himmler and Mussolini loved it. Useless fact for the day

Jack Hylton toured Germany in the Nazi period several times and Goebbels went to see him in concert. The Nazi's discouraged him from having anyone of "Jewish appearance" on display at the front of the stage. Apparently the band members used to joke by raising their hands in Nazi salute and shouting Heil Hylton. I think what drove him more than anything was money really, apparently he never changed the band lineup or answered any questions about it's members. He was also the man who brought Duke Ellington and his band to Britain in 1933. Here they are at Waterloo station.
