Do you use porcelain fake eggs ?

yknow like to keep your hens from eating their own eggs?

I'm using two right now. One in each lay box. They seem to work pretty well though I did lose a couple over the years and never could figure out where the heck they went.

I'm not sure if there's any reason NOT to use them. So I recommend!

I use them to encourage my girls to lat their eggs in the nestboxes rather than in the coop. I've lost a couple too- both when other people have been looking after the girls when I've been on holiday. I suspect that they had a tough time making their breakfasts!!

I resorted to writing on the ceramic eggs in pencil "fake egg; please leave in nestbox"

Thats a great idea - writing on them. I've had to explain to family before. "Why the fake eggs?!?"
My two year old still doesn't get it. "egg?" no - it's fake!
