Hi
You said it we are well hooked now.
Had the girls for 3 weeks now and everyone seems to have settled in well. Our dogs are still very good with them and it is good that the hens are very calm and not flighty (all the literature that we have read state that), but didn't realise that they were going to be that calm. One of our dogs Bella desperately wants them to play and 'play bows' mainly to the Black Rock who just stands there thinking "whatever".
Originally it was planned that they were only going out into the garden a couple of hours a day when we are at home, well that has gone straight out of the window. The Speckledy is the most vocal of the three (the ringleader) and even though their run is at the side of the house as soon as she knows that me or the wife are in she starts clucking. So the inevitable has occurred that they have access for most of the day when we are off. We have had to put the flyscreen curtain up at the door as before we knew it the three of them decided to wander into the kitchen and this morning ventured right through the kitchen into the living room and decided to make their way to the front door. The screen seems to work well as a barrier and has stopped them from just standing at the door tapping at the door waiting to come in.

It amuses me every time that the door opens that they leg it from the end of the garden to try and get in the house. As it was so wet yesterday I opened up the 'up and over door to the garage for them to shelter from the rain, but no they decided it better to shelter in our small plastic greenhouse at the kitchen window as it is so close to the kitchen door just in case it opened. I think Daphne de Maurier must have had chickens to think up the book "The Birds". Maybe UK film makers should come round here to do a remake of Alfred Hitchcock's film of the novel.
Anyway enough of my drivel, but as I have already said we are hooked.
