Hi all.
not very big news but it is for me. I went out today as normal to feed and let everyone out and my little black pekin was chattering away to me, much louder than normal. I didn't take much notice to start with just telling her not to be so bossy and she would have to wait her turn to be fed like everyone else(and yes I do talk way to much to my chooks
) . she went on shouting at me so I went to see what the problem was and she had laid an egg. first one Ive had from my girls since there winter break. not big news really but she is one of the chickens I took in in september after they were neglected by there owner, she was at deaths door as almost starved to death nothing but bone and scruffy feathers. No feathers on her feet and full of scaley leg. I wasn't even sure she would recover so for her to be the first to lay must mean she is well on the way to recovering. just hope the little RIR she came with isn't far behind her.
