A whole incubator of eggs (35) and all infertile. Guess that Mottled Orpington cockerel isn’t up to the job. Oh well Exchequer Leghorns gone in so it will be a late season for hatching this year.
 
Oh dear. I misjudged him terribly. The eggs were very cold when they went in the incubator so I guess they had to warm through before incubation started. So two days late a mass of chicks. Three clear, four dead in shell and 28 chicks. Their mothers are three different breeds so we’ll see how they turn out. The downside is that I’d already necked him. Won’t make that mistake again.
 
Let's hope that one of his offspring makes a good replacement...
