As a result of a head injury three years ago I contracted epilepsy. This has been largely controlled by drugs. However last Thursday I had a major fit which left me feeling dazed and confused for about a day but also due the contortions the body throws itself into I had torn muscles in my back, shoulder and neck. To cap it all I bit through my tongue.
I know there are people who have had this condition for a lifetime. Any pointers or tips would be appreciated.

I am sorry to hear that HenGen, what a shock for you. I am sorry that I have no experience to offer either, but as I am currently suffering from a suspected frozen shoulder and referred pain in the neck although it has also been X rayed in case it's something else, I would recommend seeing a physio sooner rather than later. I like the combo of exercises and a bit of manipulation/ultrasound. I know my issue is mild compared with your torn muscles, let alone the epilepsy, but i I have improved markedly tho it's long haul in the past fortnight after deteriorating for 6 months so am feeling very pro a bit of knowledgeable intervention.

So sorry, Hen-Gen, life can be a b sometimes can't it?

I had a fearful head injury out walking on Throrney Island, Chichester Harbour, ended up in St. Richard's hospital with my head being put back together with medical type super glue. It worked, but thank goodness no further problems.

I left with wire warnings about what could happen if I did not rest completely and sleep a lot!!!

Sorry to hear this old boy, here's to a speedy recovery.

Thank you for your good wishes, guys.
Valeriebutterley, I would love to be able to say that I'd been struck by a falling rock or trampled by a cow. But the truth is I got very drunk at a neighbours house, tripped over and knocked myself out on his kitchen wall. Some would say that's a wake up call. It certainly has been for me!
I've sent for a book from Amazon on the subject so hopefully that will have some useful information.

My fall , when I think of it was a wake up call, too. I tripped over a wire rope hidden by overgrowth on the path. then flew head over and landed 6 ft below on a very stony beach made up of huge stones, I feel so lucky it was not worse, apart from blood everywhere at the time. St. Richard's - a local cottage hospital were wonderful.

It did teach me to watch wherever I put my feet when out walking, and to watch the undergrowth especially.

Your fall sounds very bad, and sounds like an extremely nasty experience, I really am so sorry the way it left you.

Sorry to hear you had a major attack Hen-Gen. I am friendly with someone who got knocked off his push bike and suffered a head injury as a child, this was in the days before crash helmets were in use for motor bikes let alone push bikes and he suffered from epilepsy as a result. his was largely controlled by drugs, I do remember him saying he knew if he was going to have an attack as he would sense a strange smell. Apart from that the attacks just seemed to happen at random.
I hope the book does answer questions for you, and speedy recovery

How are your back and shoulder Hen-Gen? Hope you are recovered now
