Hi,
I was just wondering please, if it is possible to have any diseases transmitted via bought in eggs for incubating.
In other words, can introducing young birds from your own incubating/hatching bring in disease - if the eggs are from an outside source.
All else being equal of course. I'm not looking for a lecture on the importance of only buying from healthy stock please!
Thanks.

chance to bring diseases in hatching eggs are gratly reduced.Hawing said that one comes to a mind and it is salmonella.I know there is few others but cant remember names.

I was comforted to read somewhere that Marek's isn't carried in eggs. I don't know about anything else and shall be interested in any other replies.

Just read that Lymphoid Leucosis(big Liver Disease or Visceral Leucosis) also can be transmitet thru egg. This is viral disease.
Another is Aspergillosis(brooder pneumonia or Fungal pneumonia)-fungus responsible.
Chronic respiratory disease(CRD) also mycoplama

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I shall definitely keep an eye on the young stock as a result. They will be seperate for the first 6 months, so I should be able to deal with any problems before cross-infection occurs.
