My chicks are about 3 weeks old n have been eating n drinking n seemed really healthy. When
i returned home from work today i noticed one of them was struggling to walk. When
i had a closer look i noticed his feet have turned in on themselves n its all hunched over n not really bothered with the other chicks sat in the corner on its own...

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas of what could be wrong with it??

Thanks in advance Craig.

----at that age I would treat--quickly--- for Coccidiosis any chick (and all his pals) that seemed at all fluffed up or miserable. His leg problems could be due to the fact that he is weak/ill/dehydrated. If it is Coccy quick action may save all your chicks , if its not that then you will loose very little. Are they on Anti-Cocci medicated chick crumb ? If it had an inherant leg problem you would have seen it before , if its just a bit off as its hurt a leg then the cocci treatment will not do it any harm. If you think it maybe ,then you need to start treating today . The most effective treaments are only available via a vet , but you can buy Coccoid from places that stock supplies for pigeons which works well but slightly more slowly and should be adequate if the chicks are not very ill. Let us know what happens please , I do hope I am wrong and that he is ok. Ros

Thanks so much for your advice, its much apreciated. We will take him
straight to the vets in the morning. Is there anything you can advise us to do tonight that will hopefully get us through to that vets appointment in the morning?

We will keep you updated and hopefully soon put some pics on of our healthy
little mate.

Without a vets visit / meds, there's little I can suggest.

Genetic deformities usualy show themselves from the hatch or a few days later.

The main thing now is to gather as much information as you can. Remove this chick and keep an eye on the others. If it is a disease, you will probably see more than one with the symptoms.

Good luck...

Been to vets today n they said our little chuck has calcium deffiency, an infection n a high temp! They give her an injection n some drops. We have to give her a injection every day for the next 4 days so hopefully we should see an improvement. Vet said if she makes it through the next 24 hours things are looking good!!

Will keep you informed mate.
