Daisy sadly didn't make it (respiratory infection) and died last week.
To my horror, the day before yesterday we noticed that Pokey was looking a bit off colour, doing the hunched up thing with her tail down (she is one of my ex-batts and has never been ill before). Yesterday afternoon she was still looking poorly and I noticed a tiny amount of clear discharge from her nose, but no smell and no rattling. I gave her lots of treats to encourage her to eat (banana, sweet corn, lettuce, bread) and she gobbled it all up, but today she is still hunched up and looking poorly.
Should I put all of them on Tylan? I don't want to overdo it with the Tylan in case they build up a resistancy to it (they were last on it 6 weeks ago when Daisy first got ill)... But then again I don't want Pokey to die and the others get sick...
My chickens seem to keep on getting respiratory problems and I cannot understand why - they are free ranging, I use dust extracted wood chippings in the coop, clean and disinfect once a week, and they have plenty of fresh vegetables in their diet...
Does anyone have any ideas?
