Coronavirus

I don't understand the obsession with going on holiday abroad. Ask all of the illegal migrants: "Which is the best country to be in?" The answer is a resounding "Britain"!

We have a temperate climate, beautiful countryside, canals, mountains, glorious coastline, picturesque fishing villages, historic cities, great beer & sparkling wine... Why on earth would you go on holiday abroad, this year of all years???

Unfortunately we also have a lot of idiots who don't respect the places they visit. As someone said, if they can carry a full six-pack to the beach or wherever, why can't they carry the empties home?

That is my argument too Icemaiden - although I'd love to visit places like Epidavros and Mycenae in Greece, I probably haven't visited 0.5% of the beautiful places in Britain.

Ditto for us as well, plenty we haven't seen in the UK. Off to Cornwall in a few weeks. Then Scotland later in the year. Lots of Scotland is unexplored for us that is on the must do better list

This is so sad.

Interesting that nobody has posted in this section for three months. Does that indicate that we’re all just getting used to the situation, do you think?

Think we could see this one coming a mile off, with all the people buying pets during lockdown. Makes your blood boil.

Covid cases are going up massively where I work and no-one wears a mask, wearing one in the local shopping centre Lakeside, you definitely look the odd one out. But we are both wearing ours

OH and I have different doctors surgeries, they only had one space at the nearest and they must have worked on ladies 1st. So I phoned my GP surgery to ask about booking my flu jab, I usually book in at Tesco, but as they want everyone over 50 to have one, I phoned the GP " how old are you"

"59 and they are asking everyone over 50 to get a free one"

" Not at this surgery you're not" and the line went dead. It has taken forever but I have one booked at Boots on Friday. Ruth had hers ages ago at 7.30am at her surgery

Bloody rude! Honestly, don't they get any training in dealing with the public??
I got an appointment at my surgery with a nurse no problem for the flu jab - and another appointment with my gp a few days later

Our surgery was very apologetic when I enquired about flu jabs two weeks ago - they said they couldn’t get any vaccine until the end of October - despite the national campaign telling people to get one ASAP. Now been invited to book in, and we’re going on Monday, to their first clinic.
Does Boris think things will get better if he sits on his fat bum and does nothing?

GP surgeries locally don't seem to have any, apart from OH's that has been doing vaccinations since Sept. Tesco and Sainsbury's pharmacies must have plenty as they are vaccinating people all day long, I usually go to Tesco and thought I would get one quicker with my GP this year as Tesco was booked for Sept/Oct. How wrong I was. Eventually booked one in Boots at Lakeside shopping Centre.

Everybody I speak to seems to be refusing the Covid booster jab, on the lines of, I am not going through this every year.

Mum's had her covid booster and her flu jab, although her doctor left a week between them. He said most are just getting the two done together, but her health is fragile, and he felt it best to have a gap. They are making rollout plans for boosters for over 60s here, but I don't expect to get a booster until January or early February, as I got the Astra Zeneca jab, so there was a long gap between jabs, and I didn't have the second one until mid July. I'll definitely be taking the booster. The more we can do to safeguard everyone, the better.

We are both Pisces. Our nearest neighbour's are Scorpio and non vaccinated and never made any attempt to maintain lockdown, had people around continually. haven't caught it as yet, is this a case of the devil looking after his own.

Three people at work gone down with the new variant doing the rounds, they are vaccinated
