Chickens at last!

After years of wanting chickens, my little flock arrived today! :D We were so pleased and sat watching the 4 of them for hours. They seemed to settle in quite quickly and within 20 mins were eating and dust bathing, which the children found hilarious. Realised the new neighbours were setting up a coop today, can't believe we thought of the same thing at the same time! Nipped round to warn them about the fox though, they never realised one comes a-calling. Our guinea pig is only just re-growing her hair after it fell out when he almost got her last year. She's worn a little coat all winter :roll:
 
Hello, glad to hear you have your girls! Be warned- it's very addictive! Hope you enjoy your new family and good to hear you are aware of Mr reynard :o Don't forget to lock them up EVERY night :)

That's great :D ,so pleased that you're happy with them.Your poor guinea-pig,good job they have tough skin isn't it ;) .
 
It was the shock of him trying to chew his way in that caused the hair loss, she's a tender soul.
The chickens are great! One is already letting us pick her up and stroke her. We've finished a much larger run for them today (13ft x 7.5ft). Looking forward to the day I let them into the garden, and also the first egg ;)
 
hi just Kim which one of the chooks is letting you pick them up? Our Sussex Ranger is the friendliest so far and lets you stroke her back whilst she eats so far and will always foloow and come up to you when you sit in the garden.

The Black Rock lets us pick her up and the Warren is pretty good now too. The Bluebell is still a complete loon though :roll: Our Black Rock is a couple of weeks older than the others so I don't know if that's what makes the difference.

The Sussex is still the friendliest today, Black Rock is really pally too, Speckeldy is good and the Blue Ranger well she is so different and is interested in us if you have food and will always come for a look if you are there but if you move your hand at all to stroke her then she takes a step away? :( Although i did manage to lift them all into their coop this afternoon as they weren't hungry enough to be fooled by the food in the run trick when i was taking the mother in law out this afternoon :)
