Hiyah!

One of my girls is doing ginger wet poos.........have had them on the acv but no avail...any advice?

Lemmy

No, I have never wormed them (they are still new to me) but I thought that may need doing.........I shall try and get some worming jollop today.

I shall also grab them at roosting timetonight for a lice check. What am I looking for and where, apart from the vent, is best to check please? With my old pigeons, it used to be round the neck and ears and under wings.

Thanks! I realise now I should have put this in the chick health forum! But I am blonde - and chicken-brained at times!!

check the whole bird not just the vent area , what are you feeding them on to much corn can make the poo go a funny colour , all my birds are wormed ,de liced etc regularly but yet thier poos can differ on a very regular basis and they all seem very happy and lay well .

I cleaned the henhouse with Jeyes fluid and put some worming stuff in the water and puffed some Smite up their bottoms today. Someone still doing the runny ginger poo when I let them out tonight, but just the one hen I think! I am a bit obsessive, running about behind them to see who it is!

http://chat.allotment.org.uk/index.php?topic=17568.0 check out this link, you would be surprised how many poos are normal, though I would worm them :-)07

Cor, the seven shades of!!! What a good resource!!

Thanks for that. There are some similar to ginger runny poo hen's droppings....I have some worm drops in their water. It is pigeon worm stuff - Wor-med - but the country store lady said people use it for chickens.

I have to give them it for a day then some more 10 days later.

I missed them today as they had gone to bed when I came in but Mam came round and let them out and said she thought the poo was less runny today.

Will keep you posted.

Wouldn't worry too much, chickens droppings vary naturally depending on what they eat. Make sure they have a balanced diet, access to daily fresh water, clean run and bedding and they will be fine. Worming twice a year to be on the safe side. Only be concerned if their behaviour, overall condition changes significantly. I rarely pay any attention to the droppings, I only pay note when there is something ailing them.

Thanks Foxy!

I sound like a new Mum don't I? Well I guess I am .........

Thanks again all! You are very helpful on here, and I appreciate it very much. I have had a bit of a tough time of it lately and I swapped my partner of over 10 years for these chickens  so you can imagine, they take up a lot of my time and thoughts!

BUT, they are pleased to see me! They are up for a laugh!! They are not sulky!!! Can you see the advantages of said swap???
