Can't play the song Castara as I've removed the speakers from the PC. Take heart in the fact that I have spent a lifetime designing things for a living and still make mistakes. The first one you build is the 'prototype' ,made to sketches which proves the design works by means of a 'user trial' (the chickens and you). The next one checks the final working drawings and the third checks the prescribed assembly method and sequence. The 4th should be right for manufacture but in my experience of the Automotive Industry even the 400th is still wrong!!! Just remember a Camel is actually a Horse designed by Comittee.

As this is your first ever coop and run and you have been hampered by Committee decisions and duff materials I think you have done remarkably well. Bet you can't wait to make the next one!
Fine words of wisdom , I always had my suspicions about camels

Had enough of the rain ...sorted ;)

Mine have sort of ladder to climb in but most of the time they high jump in it:)The picture of it is here http://poultrykeeperforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=4240

hmmmn :-)19 , that looks steeper than I thought , "High jumping chickens" ehh , well it is Olympic year I guess

Ours have 18" steps Castara. Some can actually walk up them, some hop a step at a time and some just fly to the top one which is a lot wider as a sort of landing platform.

Would you say the Angle between the steps and the floor, is greater or less than 45 deg ?, Cause I do have some steps knocking about from an old play house

Time for chickens I think Castara. Just about finished the first 'breeding coop'. Been and bought materials for the next two. Fortunately Rosie was with me because my card 'declined'- just too many purchases of coop bits in the last month!!!!!

I try and use cash, that way its easier to forget how much I spent, And if I ditch the receipt . No one need ever know ;)
You say " next two" , How many chooks you planing to have ?

He's still fillin those crannys, after I spooked him with tales of mites devouring their young and chomping on chickens .
And Yes I was tempted to bolt the door there and then  APDC1098 (800x600).jpg
All the joins were filled with 'painters mate' a little touch up gloss tomorrow

Chickens may pull their legs off and eat them, but I doubt they will eat a whole one Castara?

No more chickens but need coops ready for them in France. So building 3 new ones and taking materials for the next three (breeding quickly as they are getting old). Taking two mobiles plus a rearer unit conversion for the bantams. So 6 completed coops in total and 3 Rearing units with more coops to be built whilst the eggs are incubating and the chicks are growing.
