My buff orpington has been broody for around 4 weeks now. I get her out of the coop every morning to eat and drink but she doesn't seem that interested and as a result is getting quite thin. I keep removing the eggs from under her as I don't want any to hatch. I have tried shutting her out of the coop but she just goes and sits somewhere else. I have also tried putting food and water in the coop for her but she isn't really interested.
Can anyone tell me how long she will stay broody for? Is removing the eggs encouraging her to sit? I am worried that if she carries on for much longer there will be nothing left of her...
Any advice very gratefully received!

Go into the search facility in the top right hand corner & look for breaking broody topics. Theres a few on here. Sorry cant get post links here for you.

Personally, I wouldnt let her sit any longer as she will get thinner, then be more suseptible to illness etc Some broodys will just sit & sit.

Hi, take her out if you can and put her somewhere else- a wire bottomed cage is the best- or keep her locked out of the coop- make sure you powder her for red mite/lice as broodies can suffer and even die if there are mites in the coop- you need to try and break her out of broodiness- before she becomes too weak.
Good luck and let us know how she goes.
regards,David :)
