Hi. I have a laying hen whose just started laying she layed her 3rd possibly 4th egg today. There no blood in the nesting box but outside on this wooden structure we have. And I noticed blood and tissue coming out of the vent I think it could possibly be a prolapse. She's generally all well, eating fine, looks fine apart from a cough. What do I do? Pushed it back in once and it comes back out again now starting to get a lot of poop on it now. Heard about people using lubricant/honey to get it back in and getting antibiotics from the vets to stop it from becoming infected. Need help fast!

The most important thing is to separate her from the others, as I expect you have done, as they will peck it and make it worse. I would keep it as clean as you can, push it back if it will go in, keep her warm tonight, maybe in a box indoors, and if possible take her to the vet tomorrow. Whilst you're there you should also ask about her cough, I think. It's good that she's feeding, just try to rest her and see how she is in the morning.
there's a page on Poultrykeeper about prolapse, here http://poultrykeeper.com/reproductive-system-problems/prolapsed-oviduct

Well everything was running smooth since Wednesday it had gone back in. She's was back to normal wednesday evening absolutely fine even the cough was going. Yesterday was fine. Then today I've just gone to check on them and she's passed away she laid her last egg today aswell - just wondering what the possible causes were? Looked all round the place to she for anything unusual any tissue or anything and there's nothing.

So sorry to hear this, Daniel. Sometimes hens do drop from unknown causes, and prolapse is quite common in young pullets just coming into lay. Even though she seemed to have recovered from her prolapse, it may be that laying an egg disturbed something inside her and caused peritonitis, but i'm only guessing. ts also possible she had some other kind of infection, as you said she was coughing. Kepp a careful eye on your other birds, just in case they show any signs of chest infections.
