Hi folks. Since the weather got warmer I have been noticing black larvae in the drinking water dish (its a large open iglu one) in one of my coops. Am dealing with this by emptying out the water every few days. Any idea what they might be? (Doesn't happen with my smaller covered hanging drinkers..)

Thanks, Chris. I will give it a good scrub. Would it be a deterrant if I put Apple cider vinegar in the water, and if so how much should I use?

It might be a deterrent to the chickens drinking it Roisin, but I doubt it will put off mosquitoes. They lay in the filthiest of water. Maximum concentration of ACV is only 1%. We don't use it anymore -expensive and of dubious benefit.

You should really change the water every day, especially if its getting larvae in it. Give the drinker a good scrub to remove algae (have a labelled bottle brush kept by the tap) and give them water you would be happy to drink yourself. No need to add anything, just keep it clean and as cool as possible.
