Can anyone help, or give any advice as to why my 2 year old pekin bantam has lost her balance and can't stand up anymore? All she seems to do is sit back on her bum?!

She tries to flap and re-gain her balance, but normally with the aid of something to lean againgst. This has come on slowly since last weekend (now 6 days, at first it looked more like a limp, as she wandled about the garden, but it got worse to this stage and I was wondering if its a lack of something, or weakness/strength loss?) All the other Bantams show no signs of this.

She had a molt about 2 months ago and now looks in peak condition, she eating and drinking well, has a healthy coloured comb, no diahorea, and bright eyed, she chats away if I pick her up as normal. All seems normal apart from unable to stand.
I hope someone can advise me, or I guess its a trip to the vet.

-----poor girl! Possibilities include ear and respiratory infection, anaemia / red mite. Also worth excluding neurological disease such as Mareks. This can produce many different signs but limp and loss of balance are amongst the more common , I do hope it isn't .Ros

Echo Pods advice, usually when a hen goes off their legs it is not usually good :(

Sorry to hear that Dotty. We had a perfectly healthy Leghorn bantam cockerel go limp in one leg and then, after 3 days, fall over. Tried all sorts for a month and it seemed to be improving, but then the other leg went. Vet thought a spinal tumour but we declined the suggestion of having a post-mortem. When I discussed it with his previous owner he told me that the same had happened to some of the hens -and a fox took the rest. So in that case it was probably an inherent weakness in the strain.

I really hope in your case it is something else. Check poos and coop. You will need to go to the vet anyway for a course of Baytril to remove the possibility of the infections as Foxy says.

Thanks for all your advice, I've had a look through some books and yes I think I need to get the vets advice,
similar things to what you've suggested.
She doesn't seem stressed at all or in pain, just cant balance and stand! Its horrible to see.
....Arghhhhhh doesn't look to hopeful, will let you know.
THANKS!
