i have been out tonight re doing the house back to a 8'4 not a 4'4 as in time my 3 new favorelles girls will be joining my flock found them on here for sale while i was bored at work  i wil be collecting them friday night as i hope it will be cooler as i dare not transport any animals in this heat in a car no way even if it i only a mile down the road , in a few weeks time i am hoping them will join my big girls so of course i have had to make the house bigger again back to what it was but i am not at all happy with the doors so i was wandering if i could get away with frames covered over with wire mesh an then very fine mesh over that ?? to stop any wind this might only be temp as towards the end of september i will be treating the girls to a new posh home .

Sounds fine to me Karminski. At the moment the chickens need all the breeze they can get! They will still get their snug secure feeling in the coop with having the three sides and the roof. We shouldn't see frost until November, so plenty of time to get a proper door up. Actually I should say 'you' won't see any because I won't be over here and the Dordogne gets frosts end of September, as we found out when camping!

Thanks Chris have booked my frien for next thurs got to have 1house complete as the girls won't have anywhere to sleep

My sheds have an inner mash door and an outer wooden one. The wooden ones get closed only to stop rain blowing in, the rest of the time, summer and winter, the wooden door is left open.

i need to make new solid doors which will be the plan before winter kicks in but i should all going well start making the summer doors this weekend ready for next week once its cooled down that is  trying to do as less as poss with the animals at the mo, might have to end up making another 4'4 house if this new girls dont sleep with the others in time as they are pretty big birds and i cant wait to get them home and give them some t.l.c :D

We are taking a similar approach to Chuck. Fitting mesh doors outside the pop-holes which can be shut with the pop-hole left open.
