I have another poo query!!!

I have possibly two birds who are producing liquid white poo. It wouldn't be noticeable if it wasn't white because it is so liquid. They seem very healthy and don't have dirty feathering around the rear end. They are eating very well and also laying. Should I be concerned as they are well or is this an obvious sign of something?

The white portion in dropping is the "urates" which is basically the by product of kidney function. The brownish bit is actually the faeces, so the result of digesting pellets corn etc and will largely reflect the diet the bird is on.

It sounds like maybe one of your birds didn't eat a huge lot one day but drank plenty of water or maybe lots of vegetables? This would cause an increase in watery droppings.

Keep an eye for other symptoms and if as you say the continue to behave normally than I am sure they are fine! :D

Some of ours that are not laying are doing the same every so often. In fact most of the hens not laying are doing wetter poos anyway. Don't know if its the ACV in the water last week, the habbit of drinking a lot for egg production, the mild weather or flushing out the excess calcium in their feed. But they are all very healthy and bounding about the Orchard in search of grubs as I write. And their Cockerels are bounding after them -they think it's Spring!

Thanks for your replies. Foxy I do understand the difference between the white and brown parts of the droppings, but this wasn't anything like that, it was just a pool of completely white liquid, looked like someone had spilt some milk and it was quite a lot as well! I've found several over the last few days. I think it is the hens who are laying - my two younger ones have just started, about a week ago and my Maran has also layed a few after her massive moult.

I'd just say that white liquid droppings are within the normal limits !

Thanks Chuck, I will stop worrying, especially as they all seem very healthy.
