Which Grit???

I've just been looking on wells poultry supplies to get some grit... But there are all sorts of different grits.
Which one should i get. Im due to get my Pekins in 2 weeks time they will be about 15 weeks old.
Can someone explain why you would choose limestone grit over mixed grit etc etc

Can anyone guide me?

Most of us use a general mixed grit. Put it out in a little pot that can't be fouled so that they can help themselves. It lasts a long time so you don't need a big supply and it's usually available where you get your feed.

There may be a small size grit for bantams, perhaps someone else can advise as I don't keep them.

There are essentially 2 types of grit - soluble and insoluble:

Limestone or Oystershell is full of calcium and helps form egg shells (which are mainly calcium carbonate). This is soluble.

Insoluble or Flint grit is used for grinding food down in the gizzard.
