Hi,

Just wondering where people get there supplies from such as Apple Cider Vinegar, Diatom etc etc?

Got my recent supplies Food, Straw etc etc from various places, but jsut wondering if there is a good reasonable online shop peaople use.

thanks,

Because a lot of the stuff you mention is heavy, postage costs are high in relation to the value of the goods, so its best if possible to go to a local agricultural store and buy it direct. These places are always fascinating to browse around in any case - you may come out with more than on your shopping list! For diatom in particular, the larger sizes are a lot cheaper, if you don't have to pay for postage.
Since my local Garvo supplier gave up stocking it, I now get my layers pellets from Pets at Home, which deliver free on orders over £30. They do Dodson and Horrell, a good quality non-GM brand (if that's important to you.) My hens do well on it and the marigold petals make their egg yolks a lovely deep golden colour.

We've bought all over the place Ontombose. Traditional agricultural merchants are good (if there are any left), pet shop type places and garden centres can be very expensive. As Marigold says postage costs make on-line potentially expensive. But we have bought a lot of stuff from Ascott on line. Also Poultry Shows can throw up some real bargains.

If you have a local Wilko they do click and collect. Feed is fine, local store pick-up next day.
I've had chick crumbs, layers' pellets, 20K, corn, growers, all in smaller quantities.
Their prices seem good, for the convenience of not driving miles, and they sell meal worms!!

I use pets at home and flytes of fancy. Watch for sell by dates though and always check all the packs on the shelf ;)

Thanks Guys,

Have had a few bits and bobs from Pets At Home and one has just opened near by, Wilko is also not far away too..

We also have TFM Superstore nearby which is a farm and country suppliers, so will try them also.

Thanks Again

Hi Ontombose.
When I googled local stockists of Aubiose (my preferred bedding for the coop), it came up with a list of local equestrian, farm & smallholders' suppliers which I wouldn't have otherwise found, all of which are far cheaper than Kent's Pets at Home shops. (I guess they're cheaper where Marigold lives ;) )
Worth a try, I'd suggest.

Lifestyles uk near webbs (bromsgrove/upton warren) are good, Guy called Steve runs it, he sells chickens supplies and does boarding

John Sturman Ltd in the West Midlands might be a bit far, I get all my feed there, they do local deliveries and if they don't have what you need in stock they will try and get it in for you.

Hi there I've recently started using http://www.poultrysuppliesuk.co.uk for most of my supplies. The guys are new to the game but have been into farming for generations I believe!

Dates are always good and they have a free delivery offer too if you intend to buy quite a bit

Marcus
