hi does anyone know how old my mini appleyards ducks will be when they start to lay.
they are 13 weeks old now, my chickens started about 20 weeks.
are ducks around the same age or older. :?:

Could be wrong, but ducks usually lay between March/September? so may not start to lay til next year? Im sure davidd will be along with the correct answer :D

Hello, it all depends on breed and also to a certain extent when they where hatched- some breeds like Campbells can lay almost all year around- Appleyards are fairly good layers but with yours being only 13 weeks i think they wont start until next year- around Feb is normal for most ducks. If they had of been hatched at the very start of the year then they might have come into lay by the end of the summer and lay for most of the winter- just the same with chickens.
regards, David :)

thank you for your response so i will have to wait until next year to try their delicious eggs.
