went to feed her today, she looks so tiny compared to the rest. can always find her as she is the loudest duck there. felt awful because other ducks were attacking her, well they were all pushing each other out of the way so i dont think it was just her. will the other ducks accept her?

also i dont know what to feed her as the pellets sink, so its been wholemeal bread at the moment, we gave her quite a bit today, dad was distracting the other ducks and i was throwing far for her, thats the best we could do.

ahhh you poor things, you must be very concerned.

bread isn't good for them really, it doesn't have the correct nutrients and contains yeast which can cause disease in ducks. How about corn on a shallow part of the lake?

will take come corn, but she is never in the shallow bit, most of it is always atleast a meter deep and more (man made lake). will keep you posted.

getting a new boy tomorrrow from the breeder we got our pair from, so alteast scrooge will have company. have seen 2 cats in the garden yesterday, as he is easyier pray by himself. weve never had a problem with kats as they are quite big ducks compared to them, but with 2 the cats were intimidated. so hopefully will have him settled in by tomorrow night. any tips as i alwasy felt my 2 never really let me too close, theyd stand on my feet while i hung the washing out but that would take a long time to get them close and as soon as i move they run off.

Mine are the same, they wont let me near unless I have their fav treat which is chopped up tomato, then they are all over me! Shameless. Find out what they love the most and bribe them with that. Dont try and touch them to start with, save that for when you really have to, and when you do have to, for health checks or vets etc make sure they get lots of their fav treat during and after their ordeal!

Keep treats to something of little nutritional value such as salad stuff if you can. This way you dont have to worry about compromising their nutritional status if you have to bribe them a lot!!!
