what happened to pekinbantams? i thought my computer was playing up, are all the members coming back, i do hope so it was a great community forum and will be sadly missed! :?:

Hi,

I was wondering the same thing myself earlier this week. I then found out from Tom at the poultry journal that Pekin Bantams Forum was no more. It will be sadly missed by many I'm sure. Simon did do a fantastic job for 9 or 10 years running it.

I was setting this forum up as an upgrade for our forum at poultrykeeper.com to come online over the next few months (as it is far better dedicated software than the in site forum we currently use there) but thought I would launch it now before it is completely configured (it only went live last night). I'm hoping that if enough of the original Pekin Bantams Forum members can find it, there might be an opportunity to re-create a little of that community but it's a long shot.

At present it stands alone, it's not listed in the search engines, it has no links other than from my blog. I have paid for an ad to appear if you Google the words 'Pekin Bantams Forum' in the hope this might find some of the people that are looking for it.

The Pekin Bantams web site still exists, it's just the forum that has gone.

I hope this helps... if you can, please spread the word.

Tim

thanks for letting me know i was quite shocked and sad last night that site helped me and many others so much, its great you are trying to give us all a new meeting place lets just hope they find this site. i found out through a member of another forum so word is getting a round .........kind regards liz :(

Well, I hope so. It's stick a finger in the air and see what happens moment!

I'm open to suggestions - this forum is empty and can be shaped / structured in the way that people want it but whether or not it will be found is of course the big question.

I've got some work to do in bridging the log-in authentication with the poultrykeeper.com site so that the log in works for both forum and site but at least now this forum is online, a few people can hopefully find it and maybe spread the word.....

Thanks, if you can spread the word through other sites it would be appreciated.

Tim.

I also thought that my PC was playing up, and had a panic attack, as I loved the people from PB, and everyone was so helpfull, and had a giggle with others. I am pleased that this is now running and will pass it on to all I know. Good luck, and I am sure that it will work.

Hi,

I thought perhaps they were just upgrading the site or something!

I am glad you have set this up because now I can keep in touch with everyone still.

Good luck with it and let hope lots of pb-ers sign up.

Fran

hello there.. I found you by using blackle.com and typing pekin forum. The blog link was tucked in amongst a heap of chinese stuff. But i got here eventually. Very glad to see an alternative and i very much hope everyone finds it here. Although i haven't been on for a while it was a great source of help and encouragement back in december and january when we were struck with mareks. Very best wishes to you for making the effort to bring this to us. Cheers from oz

Glad you found us in the end Oz.

1 Week in, 69 registered - many more to go though...

Yesterday, we started appearing in Google / Organic search results. Not very high up in the results but we are there. What we badly need now are a few links from other poultry sites. This will help us climb up a little. If any of you reading this have your own site, however small, please add a link to us, it will help us out as Google sees this as a vote of confidence so to speak.

I'm paying for a Google Ad for the specific Keyword Pekin Bantams Forum but this is costing me dearly... so I won't be able to continue this for too long.

Thanks for your support, it's looking promising. Fingers crossed ;)

Tim
