Does any know anything about the Welsummer? I've been offered a smallish one of 12 months to live with my bully the Wyandotte. They are going to have to live in an enclosed run 10' x 10'. The Wyandotte is 7 months, so the ages would probably work, it's just the space I'm not sure about.

I'd have said that was a good size. You could try putting some boards in there so that there is something to hide behind.

Welsummers are lovely little hens, and gorgeous colours!
Is she a big'un? (our two are quite petite!)

they lay lovely dark brown eggs, relatively large for the size of the birds ... just not that often!

they should be really friendly, and quite happy scratching around in a pen or free range, so your 10x10 should be just fine....

:) :-)08

I'm going to see them tomorrow morning. I'm told they are not very big. If they're not very big, I may be tempted to have two. Then they won't be at a disadvantage with my wyandotte!

Did you get the Welsummer? My banty girl is a lovely, friendly little hen but she doesnt take any nonsense from the other chickens :)

I have been to see them and will be collecting 1 (or 2) this weekend.

All I need to do now is win the Lottery so I can buy another house with loads of land!!!!!!

Not before I do Sue!! And no doubt there will be countless others behind us!!
How many chooks could you buy with a million quid..... :-)

We moved house so I could get a bit of land to keep and show my goats. Had them for nine years at first in a back garden in Epsom with a yellow line in front !!!

Im next in the queue for land

OMG Chuck :o you have goats!! Piccies please :D

The goats went at the end of 2009 after 29 years.

I get a message telling me the file is too big so can't send photos.

I've always wanted to keep a few pygmy goats! I wish I'd had those instead of the chickens now!!!!

We have Merlin, our Billy, and Frea, our Nannie...both Pygmies. And now we have a baby nannie, she was born on May 22nd and doing great. Here are some pictures of the Nannie and baby! So sweet

She is just gorgeous! Now I really wish I had some. Do they need much room and are they easy to keep?
