Very poorly duckling

Her child is in year 4 so she's been in since thursday already and checked up on them and they're her ducklings at the end of the day so the decision will lie mainly with her as I'm guessing she wont have time to nurse a disabled duck and run a farm :( I just get too emotional, especially when I've watched them fight their way through but like Chris said, it's not what's best for me it's what's best for Alice x

The lady helping me came and had a look at Alice today and thought her other leg may also not be right on top of the one that's deformed. She was willing to take her away but I rung the swan sanctuary last night who said they'd be happy to look at her and make a decision. They came at 3 and I've just rung up to enquire. The lady there also thinks there's a problem with both legs and obviously her eye and said she's still alive but they think the kindest thing is to let her go as she was so late hatching and was so poorly and is deformed that she's probably going to have other problems not to mention developmental ones too. She's going to ring me in the morn and let me know for definate but it's not looking good.

Thanks Jo. I rang this afternoon and was told that sadly she's no longer with us but this is what I expected :( I gave her every chance though and she certainly fought for herself bless her xx

Sorry to hear that Hanlills, but it was for the best. She really was in a much worse condition than you originally thought.

The lady said both legs were not right and one eye was bad. She certainly was a runt who should probably never of pipped as I discovered her bum in her air sack when I helped pull the rest of her egg off on Monday night. I honestly don't know how she survived. marigold the other 7 are thriving. I have one very big one, who seems to be the leader and is growing at a rapid rate along with the others. I took a gorgeous pic of them all snuggled up earlier and will try posting it if the site stops saying the file is too big lol. The children love them, I am inundated with pictures of ducks and they constantly want a cuddle. They've been very good and gentle, though lots of the girls noses are turned up at the poo! The boys however think it's brilliant! Typical! I've had a few classes visit and many teachers after school aswell so I'm not getting much done but they're too cute to ignore for long anyway haha. They will be going to the farm a week tomorrow nd god knows what state I'll be in, floods of tears I expect but the experience has been so amazing and I will deffo be doing it again, maybe not straight after Easter Hols though, may wait until the last term :) x

I'm trying to post pictures but now it's telling me the picture is too high!
