I have a 15wk old pullet that has been not right for nearly 3 weeks. When I purchased her, she appeared fine but the next day I went outside and she had bubbly snot coming out her nostrils and rattly rapsy breathing. I took her straight to the vet and he prescribed baytril for 5 days. This was given alongside citricidal, poultry spice, garlic and cider vinegar! It cleared up the mucous and now there is no smell or snot BUT her chest is still rattly, you can hear her from a little distance and she has the odd sneeze, she is eating/drinking well and doesnt appear to be struggling to breathe or anything. I have treated her with flubenvet to cover all avenue but the issue is, I purchased her for breeding and showing
I have limited space and cant keep anyumore than 8 chooks at any time, so I know I cant show this girl but what do I do. I cant rehome her with a rattly chest as I assume she could pass it on to others???? Why would she still be rattly? I feel really sad about culling her as she istrotting happily round the garden
and I thaught keeping chickens was going to be easy!
