hi everyone, need some advice pretty quick. two of my pekin bantams had gone broody, or so i thought, i have since ordered 12 pekin hatching eggs for them to sit on, but am worried they are no longer broody. i have placed dummy eggs underneath them but they now seem reluctant to sit on them, any advice on the best course of action. they have got their own nest boxes away from the other chickens in a seperate house. many thanks to anyone who can help me.

Unfortunately once a hen decides she isnt going to sit, there's not an awful lot you can do. If they are ' Clocking' and still showing signs of broodiness, You can try shutting them on their nests. The Warmth and darkness, will calm them and restriction of movement may encourage them to settle to the task.

thanks for the advice, i did exactly as you said anyway thought its best to try, having checked on them both twice now they are both sitting on their dummy eggs and tucking them underneath themselves nicely, so fingers crossed it seems to have worked.
