To roost, or not to roost?...That is the question.

I've been told that I'm supposed to keep the hens out of the nesting boxes (oh yes, me and who's army?).
But, mine don't roost at night.
I only have 4 Pekins now, but neither did any of the other 3 hens I had roost. They all just cuddle up togther in the nest box. I've taken the perches out now, as they were just in the way.
Surely, this doesn't matter?

No it does not matter as long as the hen house is secure from nocturnal preditors your fine.
I have Silkies who dont roost will huddle up or go into nest boxes if its cold. There happy and so am I when they lay.
With my bigger hens that do roost I have a orp who has never roosted good job as her sister did and must have got pushed off roost at night fell and broke her neck pitty lovely big hen she was.
Just because wild hens would roost in trees at night away from foxes etc. the fancy birds of now cannot get up that high.
