Hi. Just wondered if anyone can give me any tips on hatching call duck eggs in the incubator.I tried it last year and was fairly unsuccessful with the number of eggs that actually hatched. The eggs that did'nt hatch seemed ok and were alive up to the last few days before hatching and died in the shell. Any tips about temp/moisture etc would be great. Thanks

iv a largeish flat incubator and up until my last hatch they were bad hatches, but on the last with only a day befor hatching i put a warm damp teatowel under the eggs and half covered the air holes so it got quite moist in there. the chicks almost pinged out.

I also put a piece of soft foam on the bottom of the incubator and keep it quite moist untill they start to hatch. Have also heard wetting the shell with a warm wet sponge helps, but have never tried that.

Thanks for the info folks. I'm begining to think this info is top secret or nobody is very successful at hatching them in an incubator lol :D

It all depends of the type of incubator you have as well, i don't have a hydrometer to measure the water moisture in mine, i just have food thermometer in a hole in the top of mine, keep it to the right temperature and then fill a jar up with water and pop it inside and hope for the best
