Ducks came yesterday and they are absolutely wonderful. The drake is called Jerry and is a real character and absolutely adores his mate called Karen.
Jerry is black with green cheeks and touch of green under his wings. I haven't a clue what breed or mix he is.
Karen is a mallard that was saved when she had a terrible foot infection. She is so pretty.
They seem to have settled in well but I have a few questions I hope someone can help me with.
Their previous owner says that they have food and water in their bedroom at night but I read somewhere that they don't eat or drink at night. Which one should I do?
Also they do not like veg according to their old owner. Could this be true or is there a delicious veg they are waiting to try?
I have spent all of today wrapped up outside watching their antics. Is my husband now doomed to being a duck owners widower? Will the housework ever get done again? :D :D :D :D

Ahhh wonderful! They sounds gorgeous!!!
Pictures please!
As for food and water, every duck is different. I know people who have ducks that only eat at night and some that never do. I would always give them a water source at night. If you can give them food safely without attracting rats then that is ok too, but if you want to change their routine do it slowly. You could monitor what they eat overnight, if that is what they have been used to I would continue it. ALWAYS make sure they have access to water if they have food as dry food can choke them if the water gets tipped over or finished.
As for veggies... mine love:
thawed peas, chopped cucumber, kale, tomatoes, lettuce (not iceberg as this has zero nutritional value)... BUT if a duck has not been brought up on a food it will be suspicious of it and may take months to even try it. If they don't see others eating it they may never try it.
Good luck!!! And have fun watching them!

Congratulations, what lucky ducks! I agree, pictures, please! Glad you are having such fun watching them. What's the weather like where you live? Do they like the snow?

Pictures very soon now I have my camera back from my son. The snow is very light here much to my husbands disappointment for a day off work!
They seem oblivious to the snow and are quite happy shoveling the grass/snow and collecting snow on top of their bills.
Karen is quite a swimmer and was doing loop the loop under the water. Jerry tries to copy but fails miserably with just a head dunk.
Karen's antics got Jerry a little frisky and things took place that made me blush!
Oh why oh why did I wait so long for ducks? They are so adorable.
