theres one sound i love

I'm still keen to see how natural Eucalyptus oil and wood works! Since living under a Eucalyptus tree we've not had a peep of mites! Apparently it's a natural deterrent. But I don't know what the long term health affects are for the birds. We don't have any ill health here, the fallen leaves seem to do the trick, I would worry if they were eating them but they don't bother them to be honest. We brought over a large branch of it from my partner's parents house at the old place we lived for the run and didn't have a problem there either! So maybe adding some to the runs or the roof or floor of the house? dunno...

It's wild birds which transfere redmites from one hen house to another, so not sure how Eucalyptus trees can help. :-)19 Still, each to their own.

Huh? Sorry i don't understand what you mean? Have you misread my post or something? I've not said anything about redmites transfering anywhere... or wild birds. I know where mites from! :-)11 Wot are you on about!! :D

Eucalyptus is a natural treatment to rid a hen house of mites. We just used a perch made of it at our old house and now at this new one we have a massive tree of it over the run! so free natural prevent! :D ;)

Steph, don't get complacent, i use Euclayptus oil year round in my birds bedding to help with keeping chests clear, and as a natural fly repellant/disinfectant, and we still get redmites!

Maybe you need a real tree to prevent red mites. If the tree was growing in one place for long time the sheded bark and leves get accumulated in the place and maybe this is a secret for them :)

i found were the little ******* where hiding this afternoon , i use the mail boxes and on one side theres a weeny little hole drilled down into the plastic { it really has no use at all } like a very miniture tube with a bottom and i noticed two at the top of this hole so i flushed it out and quite a few came out with the poultry shield so i clenaed them right out then filled the hole with vaseline  i will suffocate them all .
