For general usage it's a 6g scoop in 200mL of drinking water. Of course you only need to use that up, then it takes about a week to take effect and 2 weeks for the gut flora to establish fully. Of course with a mother hen chicks would grub about and pick up flora from traces of her poo, but it's a bit hit-and-miss. When we bought Beryl's for our flocks we only treated one or two in each, on the basis that the flora would spread during scratch feeding. Sure enough it did.

I think the importance of good gut condition in flocks is generally ignored.
