After thinking long and hard and remembering Betty who was so sweet and good at avoiding trouble, we picked up 3 new 10 week old CLB hens this morning. Aerial and Bonnie are now united in their complaining about it. Linden is rather impressed!
I've figured out a way of partitioning the run with a roll of plastic trellis netting that rolls away again when it's not needed.

You obviously enjoy blue eggs, Rick. I do agree about CLBs avoiding trouble, mine are now getting on a bit, but demon layers, both practically daily layers still, my first two were terrible layers, but because I liked the breed obtained two more when they went to their maker.
They are cute and colourful, and friendly.

Thanks all.
Yes, the eggs helped decide it Val, Betty's were a favourite of OH.
Of course, I forgot what good filers they are and at dusk they completely ignored the roosting bar I had provided in favour of the highest point possible - the top handle of the jet wash on the side table and only a few inches from the roof! They were crowded on there and in a bit of a flap so had to remove it and make a more suitable high perch in a hurry. At least its a warm night and I'll have a chance to provide some better shelter in that position tomorrow.
... less than ideal - the neighbours a few doors down have, rarely, decided to have a blues night. They must think they have a new home in Ibiza!!

Thanks Chickenfan. To be honest, their hats seem to change colour depending on the direction of the light so I'm hoping some more distinguishing features emerge as they get older - other than character - one is clearly the boss at the moment and a bit of a tyrant but they were in a large flock of youngsters only a week ago.
