Swollen feet

Couple of pictures for Lacy Blues. Not her best side but it's difficult to keep her still for more than a moment.

Easily distracted when she's outside. By the time the camera shutter had snapped she had moved onto something more interesting than me!

Now that she's on layers pellets and has a curtain in her 'day and lay' coop we get a lovely 65-68 gramme brown egg every day. Puts herself to bed in the dining room cage every night now. She's been a bit quiet last few days -must be as fed up of the weather as we are!

So nothing seems to work for poore Daflodil? Her foot looks really swollen.Do the vet has any idea what cousing it?

Haven't bothered with the vet Tygresek. Swollen feet is a condition some hens get for no apparent reason, is deemed incurable and they are culled -that's what my internet reseach and reference to my old chicken keeping books all say. Although they look terrible and painful, which they must be, she seems to have 'blocked it out'. So she is perfectly happy now and walks without moving her toes, sort of flat footed. If I thought she was suffering I would have PTS long ago. But she's full of beans, laying well and talking constantly!

She's lovely Chris. She is obviously in extremely good condition - nice shiny feathers and bright eyes!
