This has appeared over two days, and is not very pleasant. She is a
Golden Silkie not very old,and we bought her last week. Her head feathers
were a bit stiff, but we put it down to her sticking her nose where it did
not begin. What we have now is a very swollen eye, with a thick white
almost downy cover over it.Tried the drops but could see it was stinging
her,so sprayed it with water. We have never seen anything like it before,
so would appreciate anything that will help.
We will get pic's tomorrow (Thurs ) :-)06  :( :-)03

What sort of drops did you try, Brahmist? Not clear what you mean by 'sticking her nose where it did not begin.' (Was that your iPad suggesting funny alternatives, like mine does, I wonder?) Is there any discharge from her nose as well?
I would let the breeder you bought herfrom know about the condition, perhaps sending photos to show what has developed, and ask if he is prepared to take her back, or else to pay for a trip to the vet as she will most probably need antibiotics to clear it up. Meanwhile, isolate her in case it's contagious.

Must apologize for late reply, but have been trying to sort the eye out.Have
had it squeezed gently by friend who has seen it before.Solid like mushroom,
large piece came out, left small piece in middle for me to deal with.Well has
been a while now, have used terramycin gel and eye drops.Every time I get it
clear,its back next day.Costing a fortune in meal worms.Any ideas please.Has
isolated from start.By sticking her nose where it should not be,is just a saying.

Needs short anaesthetic as I think there is a foreign body still in there which needs carefully removing and flushing. Our vet did it with one of our Orpingtons. It was a tiny piece of grass seed we think.

She's been suffering with it for an awfully long time Brahmist.
