Hi,
Found a 2year old Silkie hen dead in the hen house yesterday morning - So sad.
She was a heathly girl and had shown no signs of illness the previous few days, She lived with three others all of the same age in a house with three large nest boxes, and that is in a large stable.
The way she was lying we felt could indicate she suffocated under her stable mates as it was a chilly night (not as cold as it has been!) and they do all rather sleep in a heap. Is this possible or do I just have to put it in the unknown catagory??? Am really sad as she was a super mature hen and was laying well.
Any thoughts?
