Hi - I'm new to the forum, it seems very friendly and informative, so I am hoping someone can come up with some answers for me.
One of my two Warrens (they are about 9 months old) became ill about 2 weeks ago - some very typical symptoms of looking lethargic, not eating and a bit of white diarrohea. This lasted for about 36 hours and I thought we might lose her. Both chooks had been wormed (Flubenvet) a month earlier so I thought it was unlikely to be worms. No evidence of red spider mite or lice on them or in coop. No impacted crop or swollen belly (that I could feel). So I decided to start worming again (just in case) and also gave her some bokashi in probiotic yogurt (she loved it!). Next day she started to pick up and gradually improve daily - she is now her normal chatty healthy looking self. The only problem is that she has not laid an egg in over 2 weeks despite going into the nest and trying. I have examined her to see if she is egg bound - but can't feel anything like an egg inside her vent. Her last egg(s) were 1 soft shelled and then 2 lashes. Is she likely to lay again? Could she have suffered sterile yok peritonitis? (I think I read somewhere that they stop laying if they have this). Any suggestions would be really welcome.

Have you seen her straining to lay in the nest box or is she just sitting there ?

It's not unusual for them to go off lay after being ill as the body needs time to recover before taking on the strain of laying again.

Hi, Welcome to the forum!!!!!! :-)99 :-)99 :-)99 :-)99 :-)99 :-)99 :-)99
Chuck has got a point.
Other than that, have you seen any signs of moulting, quite a lot of hens seem to be moulting early, perhaps it will be an early winter...

Thank you for your welcome E3lx - so nice to know there are other chicken worriers and fanatics out there! I wonder whether the few little chest feathers I saw in the nest were something to do with moult - but neither of them seem to be losing any more. In terms of an early winter - maybe right, we have seen three lots of geese flying in a southerly direction over the last week (not sure really whether truly migrating, but going somewhere!)
