Hi all - I believe we are having eggs broken and eaten by squirrels. First thought that one of our hens was breaking them but fairly sure now it is squirrels - anyone else had this and ideas how to deal please?

Get the trap otherwise will always comeback for more. You need to kill it as you cant relise grey squirrel back to the wild.It just got too smart.

I had a similar thing - wasn't sure if it was squirrels or magpies, but was probably both. I bought a plastic fly screen curtain thing and hung it across the entrance to the coop. It worked for a while (although the magpies watched the chickens go through it and learnt they could too, unfortunately).

How do the squirrels get into your run, Wendy? If they climb over the top of the mesh, maybe a mesh roof would exclude them ( and other more dangerous predators.) if they a getting in through the sides then so could rats, stoats or foxes. The only cure is to exclude them from the run so they cant get to rhe coop, and when you have worked out how to do this, your run will be safer and better proofed against other vermin.
