(Sigh) :)
Just spent the first full day this year pottering in the garden with the girls. Sun was shining, Nancy spent most of it spread eagled on the lawn sunbathing, Tricksy following my every trowel movement to pounce on the goodies below and my complete loony of a chook Fifi rushing hither and thither 'squaaaaarking' at anything that moved...... Oh yes, I feel a full blown broody coming on!
:D
Life is only worth living for moments like these...... Dog rolls eyes and retreats to safety and sanity of living room and Rugby......

Baby bantam sounds like a wonderful day, we have a wee bit of snow predicted tonight, but spring is really here in Virginia as well, old man winter will have one last hurrah tonight!

Spring here started a month ago with the arrival of much bird song and croaking toads. The TNN's went broody almost immediately and the plant pots for the nest boxes are in regular use.

We got about 2 inches of snow Monday, the majority of it melted yesterday, the rest I am sure will melt today. I covered the top of the run to keep the snow out, the girls seemed to like a snow free run, hopefully they will start laying soon.

Babybantam I have been keeping a heat lamp on 12-13 hours a day in the coop, wil that help?

No idea, I'm afraid I only keep pekins not layers and they only lay when the wind is in the right direction !

It's daylight hours they probably need Nitram. Ours started laying when they had 10 hours but the oldies waited for 11 hours before they laid. Some are still waiting, so I think they want 12 hours. They are after all responding to suitable circumstances to raise a brood.
